If you went through my first blog on the pros and cons of a Christmas wedding, and you still feel that a Christmas wedding would be the best for you, then this blog will help you just that little bit more to narrow down your ideas. One thing you must do before reading any blog about wedding ideas is that of deciding how big or how personal your wedding should be. Listen to each other and make sure you both get involved. Another thing you need to agree on is the colour scheme, everything goes around your theme. Happy planning!

Being Malta’s most experienced florists we must emphasise the importance of floral decor in your wedding. Christmas is no exception. If you feel that your budget does not have enough space for this, then opt for a reception area that already has a Christmas decor. Most restaurants and hotels would have dressed their reception rooms for Christmas then you don’t need to think of this.

Simple touches can create wonders

Restaurants and hotels might already have a Christmas Scheme out there, make sure it matches your own.

What you would need to budget for is:

1.Wedding bouquets

Your bridal bouquet is the easiest way to incorporate the festive mix of red and green without being tacky. Red and green are the Christmas colours many establishments use for their own decor, so you can compliment this with your bouquet. Yet, if you want your wedding to be something completely different and stand out from the crowd there’s a wide spectrum you can opt for, from sprigs of holly or poinsettia leaves to white roses and rustic pine cones, it all depends on your colour scheme. Opting for a more subtle approach in the form of a winter white backdrop with pale, pastel colours is just as affective as the obvious red and green palette.

You don’t always need to go for red and green, white is another favourite colour scheme

While many flowers bloom year-round, there are some in-season winter flowers we’re especially fond of:

Brunia berries are small silver balls that add a perfect accent to your winter bouquet.

The popular succulent trend is a fun winter wedding flower alternative.

Manzanita branches are wintery and rustic, and can even be spray-painted silver or gold.

Pinecones have an über winter feel, so they’re a perfect complement to any winter wedding arrangement.

Hypericum berries are also a really festive addition to bouquets.

Roses are a year-round classic, but their diverse colours (like white or deep red) are especially gorgeous for winter.

A side thought , the bride’s bouquet represents the flowers the future husband will be wearing close to his heart. Where the bridal party does not need to match the bride’s bouquet, (the colour scheme should,) the groom’s button hole does.

Another side note is regarding the flowers at the church, check if the church already has their own flowers and see if they match your own. If they do all is set, and all you need to do is dress the entry way. Yet, if it doesn’t, see what is best for the church to be happy and also your colour scheme to look the same.

2. Table Centre Pieces

If it’s a sit down wedding or a standing one, you need to think of table decor. There are many sites that can give you DIY ideas to keep to your budget but you need to keep in mind that these need to complement your colour scheme. If you are going for rustic or glamorous the reception venue needs to portray this on it’s own and you can do this with your tables. Yet, there are so many ways to dress a table, classical floral centrepieces are a great idea – white or red roses would look amazing but what about adding some pretty winter touches to them? Add some crystals and white feathers for that chic glam look. I also love baby breath for they remind me of snow. Rustic centrepiece ideas are endless: cranberries, pinecones, coniferous branches, cotton and cinnamon sticks mixed together or with flowers shout out “winter in a cabin” for sure. An alternative to flowers are candles and Christmas baubles. These create a cozy and informal atmosphere.

3. Wedding Favours

In the season of giving, this topic is very personal. Where we all know how expensive weddings can become, you should not forget to place a budget for your favours. The trend is to give something to charity and what better time to comply to this, then at Christmas time? If this is your option we are all applause but if you still wish to give that little something to your guests, then there are a variety of options to choose from as Christmas theme items are plenty.

Personalised baubles can be ideal gifts for Christmas and easy to make yourselves all you need are baubles from Qronfla and a Permanent marker.

Candles can be a great idea to give away and Qronfla can supply you with some amazing ones.

Scarfs might even be welcomed by your guests with a warm smile and worn there and then.

Small bottles of mulled wine are perfect to create a Christmas feeling.

The list can go on, ideas for your guests are infinite and many can be hand made too. Just remember the favour is for your guests to remember you by especially at this time of year. I still have my Christmas Bauble of a friend of mine that married some 20 years ago and every year when I take it out with my Christmas decorations, I remember their wedding and send them a personal message.

4. Winter Accessories

Unless you live in the Northern Hemisphere, Christmas will be cold. Accessories will be important to keep warm. While a wedding dress with long sleeves is a perfect choice for the season, it is not always what is chosen. So, a faux fur stole, a veil, a cape or a chic cardie are all good options. This thought needs to be extended for your bridal party, it would be a shame to see your bridesmaids trembling while assisting you. Another winter accessory one should think of is the umbrella. Invest in big umbrellas that can cover the bride and groom where ever they go. Nobody likes the idea of a stormy day for their wedding but better be prepared for the worst. There are even white ones to complement the day.

Keep up with your vitamins

5. Don’t Forget Beauty Prep.

Chapped lips and dry skin are inevitable come winter. Keep your lips moisturised in the run up to the wedding and this is not only for the bride! Use a good face moisturiser and have a lip balm in your clutch or in his pocket on the day. What about colds? Just like in summer we need to prevent ourselves getting red with the sun, colds too need to be prevented, how? Eat well, and eat your vitamins! Take your oranges and take your ginger and lemon tea. If you prefer take vitamins in a pill form, whatever way you do it make sure you remain healthy.

6. Coat Check

Have you ever been to a winter wedding? As a female I always worry what to dress myself up in to keep warm. If i knew there was a coat closet things would be less stressful. Do this for your guests, make sure someone is in charge of taking coats at your reception and making sure they’re kept safe. Ask your reception to provide with this service as it should come with the price. Having said this, keep your guests warm by offering either a hot chocolate or mulled wine on arrival or during the reception Keep it simple and you will definitely make the guests feel welcome, cheery and warm.

7. Wedding Cake

Nothing says wedding more than the cake table. A Christmas Wedding Cake is a stunner with Christmas flowers. Elegance is important at this table and it can either go simple or chic. Still it is very important that you give this some thought. With flowers you do not necessarily need a cake top as the flowers will do the magic.

Christmas might be a cold season but it does not mean that it is less warm. A Christmas wedding would definitely warm many people’s hearts and it will remain the best memory every year to keep remembering time after time. If you need more information or would like to ask any questions, Qronfla are always at your service and we would totally enjoy helping you create a Magical Christmas Wedding.

Christmas Season creates magic and which couple doesn’t want magic for their special day? Some say Christmas Season is the most wonderful time of the year and if that is you then there is no doubt a Christmas wedding would definitely suit you. Choosing your wedding date is not an easy task but, if you both are inspired to create a magical day in this amazing season then keep reading.

Pros:

1. Family Time

Christmas is all about family and so is Christmas. Many people get together at Christmas time and what better place to get together than a magical wedding? Many people take time off for the season and many fly to visit family members anyway. If you have many members of your family that need to travel to come to your wedding then with a Christmas wedding you would be watering 2 plants with one hose.

2. Honeymoon vacation

While it’s nice to create a crispy and seasonal environment for your wedding, you could keep a little smear in your smile as your honeymoon would be visiting somewhere warm and sunny. May be, the Bahamas or an Australian getaway. You and your spouse will shed away the winter blues and get a tan while at it!

3. Seasonal Decor

Christmas-themed décor is a must for any winter wedding. Not only does it add warmth, Christmas décor consists of nature and evergreens—an appropriate symbol for an ever-growing marriage! Decorate with holly or mistletoe in your venue to give the wedding an added romantic twist. Some times the actual venue would be already decorated for the season this would be a bonus for the couple it can help cut down the budget slightly or diverge your budget to things that are more important to you.

Cons:

1. Weather

If you wish the powdery-white backdrop of snowflakes for your special day photos then you are in the wrong part of the hemisphere. Malta has never seen snow, but we can get hail, strong winds and heavy rain! You might have everything planned to the T but then the weather turns and panic might strike. Always, plan for the worse, huge umbrellas, extra shoes, bridesmaid dresses with long sleeves or faux jackets, anything and everything to make the weather not beat up your spirit. Just remember even your guests will be worried and this might even be a reason why you could have drop outs.

2. Many events

There are many activities going on in this special season. Your special date might clash with your guests’ plans. Many people go on vacation for Christmas it is recommended that with this in mind, you issue the “save the date” as soon as possible. Make sure the people that mean a lot to you remember your date and give it importance too.

3. Sunset

The days are short and the sun sets fast. Be sure to check with your photographer about the earlier sunset’s infamous “golden hour.” This is the prime time to take outdoor wedding photos, and it’s worth planning your ceremony around. Evenings may be pretty with fairy lights all around but you do need the sun for best outdoor shots.

If you’re having a Christmas Wedding, don’t panic; all these problems are really small and totally avoidable with some preparations beforehand. We do hope that the cons do not stop you from creating that magical celebration. We believe that Christmas time is a great season to celebrate two hearts joining into one, doesn’t Christmas symbolise pure love anyway? If you need help to organise your wedding get in touch with us and we will lead you on a good start.

We are all feeling the effect of COVID-19. Some of us are trying hard to create a Christmas atmosphere in their home by decorating earlier than they would normally do. We might not be feeling the spirit of Christmas knowing that we need to keep social distances but Christmas is a great time to start a new tradition. I have already spoken about many Maltese traditions but this post is about creating a family tradition of gratitude.

A Maltese Tradition is to create a Crib

The Benefits of Gratitude

Gratitude has been found to improve feelings of happiness and optimism. Gratitude increases the will to exercise and be healthier. Christmas causes a lot of tension and stress because we struggle to make the day “perfect.” Being grateful, improves our relationships with others because it reminds us of why we appreciate them. While thoughts of presents at Christmas time can cause our materialistic side to come out, gratitude helps us to remember to be grateful for what we already have (and doesn’t need to be wrapped with bows).

How can we be more grateful?

For first, you need to start taking care of yourself. Self care is not a selfish action. If you are unhappy, or unhealthy, how can you give joy to the rest of your family? I like keeping a self care kit close at hand, my self care kit includes; a bath bomb, a scented candle, and a teabag. A nice warm bath with the scented candle in the room and a nice cup of tea after, does not break the bank and neither should it create a dent in your time schedule.

Nice cuppa warms the heart and mind

At Qronfla you can find a vast variety of scented candles

Other forms of self care is a walk in the country with your dog or even with a friend. A good read in a cosy part of the house or even outside near the sea is also another way of spending some time well spent with your self. Whatever way you do it, it is important to have a frame of mind that this time is for you and that you deserve it!

A Gratitude Activity

This activity can be done on Christmas day or even on New Year’s day. It just needs a little preparation but then it is not hard to do. This activity can be done before dinner while everyone is waiting to sit down or after dinner while everyone is chilling out a bit.

What you will need:

A small Christmas Tree or Some Twigs in a plant pot

Christmas Present Tags

Markers

String

Scissors

Tape

What you need to do is give all family members a few Christmas Tags and a marker each. Then ask them to think of a reason to be grateful for every single member that is in the room. If you are doing it on New Year’s Day, you can write down things you were grateful for in the passed year. No negative comments are allowed. Eg. I am grateful for the time you spend taking me out or I am grateful for the times you woke up early to do breakfast for me, I am grateful for the year that passed because I spent more time out in the countryside, etc.

When everyone is ready writing, one by one you start reading out to each other, the other person should accept with a “Thank you”. When all is said and done these tags are hung on the tree or the twigs. Every time you pass by, you will remember the things your family are grateful for. You will realise that there are things to be grateful and not just the presents under the tree.

Give your home a festive glow with lights this holiday season.

Lights have become a seasonal staple and if you ask me, there’s no such thing as too many Christmas lights. Christmas lights are one of the most versatile decorations available. Use them indoors and out, as standalone decorations or to complement other features like trees, porches, mantelpieces and staircases. You can keep your Christmas lights subtle, soft and elegant, or big, bold and colourful.

Buying for the first time

So, it’s your first Christmas in a new place? Your whole house is bare but you still wish to create a Christmas feeling? You are in luck, Qronfla cater for first time buyers. They can help you create the perfect setting and stay within your budget. Yet, if you are the adventurous type and want to go ahead and decorate your place up to create a merry place, think lights!

Tips before buying

Safety first – check out our blog on safety but remember use indoor and outdoor for just that, don’t mix them up.

Always keep out of reach from small children and pets.

Check your plugs and bulbs and do not over use your extension cords.

We recommend using timers with lights so as not to forget them alight when you go to sleep or when you are out late at night. Some have integrated timers in the lights themselves

We recommend using LED lights for indoor decorations as when compared to the old bulb system they are more energy efficient and they are also brighter, longer lasting and safer as they don’t heat up.

Before buying know where you will be placing the lights and our tip is that it’s better to get more than less. See if you have a socket near by or if you would need an extension cord or may be even better use of battery lights.

If thinking of outdoor lights make sure your socket is waterproofed well and any extensions and wires should be lifted up from the ground to not stay in soiled and wet places. If you do not have an outdoor plug you know that you have two options: either drill a hole from which an electric cord can be passed (not really recommended) or buy with battery use.

Once you have checked all these points it’s time to visit our shop! Remember if you need a more personalised service we are here to help, just send us a message on our social media sites; Facebook or Instagram.
Christmas lights make the street pretty. They lighten up the way. They create that feeling of snow even if we never see it here. What would Christmas be without lights?

Silouhette in the streets create a peaceful atmosphere

Some people really go all out and decorate every nook and cranny of their home and outdoor space with Christmas lights around this time. I pass by a house and stop to marvel at what they have magically created with just lights. One house near mine, every year comes up with a new creation to build a great spectacle.

I don’t know you but, I love lights. I am also very aware of the dangers that these can cause. Falling on the ladder, electrocution and shorting are real possibilities. Just last year I remember there were 2 fires caused by Christmas lights in my town. With proper preparation and safe practices, you can avoid those dangerous situations while decorating and throughout the season.

Indoor lights at Qronfla Christmas Shop

Safety tips

Fix or replace broken bulbs, wires and plugs.

Check fuses

Use a wooden ladder, metal ladders conduct electricity, which can lead to electrical shocks.

Stick to the labels – outdoor is for outdoor while indoor is for indoor! If looking for outdoor get water proof lighting and this includes the use of extensions!

Don’t over power – if your extension is of 4 don’t place another extension onto this one!

If it still works it does not mean it’s safe – if you have had an extension or plug for years but it got slightly burnt, ditch it, even if it still works!

Use a timer, don’t leave the lights on all night with you fast asleep. Even when you leave the house make sure you use a timer to switch on and off your lights. These can be found either with the actual lights or an add on.

Do you like creating things yourself? At Qronfla there are many talented people that create floral arrangements and wreaths that leave me speechless, and that’s rare to happen. If you are like me and love crafting and creating original items this blog is for you. I love doing my own bows and painting baubles with the kids, it makes the Christmas season more personal and meaningful. Here are two Christmas crafts you might know already but, always good to refresh our minds.

Wreath made by one of our designers at Qronfla

An Easy and Traditional craft – Vetches

Grade 3 kids doing Vetches at school

Growing Vetches might not be a craft but, the way we use them definitely is. Many Maltese people decorate using Vetches (Gulbiena); a stringy, noodle-like shoots of a particular seed. I remember my Grandmother showing me how to do it and now children do it at school like in this situation at “Our Lady Immaculate School”. To get the right colour you place the seeds in a container with some water and damp newspapers or cottonwool, in a dark cupboard. Doing this the plant grows silvery white an it lasts longer. Traditionally you would place it in the cupboard on the first of December and remains unseen till the 20th. At this time it would be ready to use as a decoration around the holy crib (il-presepju) and baby Jesus.

Another Christmas Craft

If you are not into Maltese traditions but would still like to try making your own craft ingredient, why not dry some citrus fruit and create a wreath or chain with cinnamon sticks, pine cones and other winter wonders? Below find the method to dry your citrus fruit. At Qronfla you will find fresh leaves to craft this wonderful modern twist of a wreath but we can also find many other items for you to use in your creations.

check out how to do this wreath here

How to dry Oranges and Lemons for your crafts:

1. Heat the oven to 180C

2. Cut the oranges and other citrus fruit up in thin sliced circles

3. Place on a grid tray for 4 – 6 hours, flipping them every hour or so (this can also be done during the night on a lower heat)

4. Leave the fruit dry and even if they are still a bit sticky they will dry out with the air.

Drying Oranges yourself might take time but, the scent will be everlasting

The best time to make them into your Christmas crafts is actually a day or 2 after drying in the oven because the centres might still be a bit wet after they come out. Giving them a day or 2 to further dry out on a countertop really makes sure they’re nice and completely dry, but depending on how thinly you sliced your oranges, they might be ready to go right out of the oven and into your crafts.

Natural decorations along with a festive bow and some candles created by our designers at the Christmas Shop

The comfort zone

By using red and green (and a little glittery Gold) you’re using the Christmas colour scheme. The reason these are the traditional colours is simply the fault of the Celts and holly but, I wont go into the history of this now. If you do like some history check out my previous post about the history of the Christmas tree. Let’s go back to colour schemes. Every year, I have used the traditional colours as the main theme in my house, if only I had the courage to change the colour scheme and make things a bit different. I always end up with the safety net.

Getting out of the safety net

Today, more than ever, I think you would agree, we need a boost of joy. Feeling a bit anxious around Christmas is very normal but this year, our normal is being challenged even more. So, am I wrong to want a change for Christmas this year? One that oozes warmth and love throughout the whole house? I think I need to step outside my comfort zone and try something bold and beautiful.

White Christmas tree is not following the traditional colours but it still looks amazingly beautiful – try something bold and beautiful to spice up your Christmas this year and shake your anxiety away!

Is it going to cost me a fortune?

I always thought that changing my colour scheme would be expensive to do. Yet, ever since Qronfla Christmas Shop has opened it’s doors I have realised that changing my Christmas colour scheme is not so daunting after all; I am wrong to think that changing the colour scheme would cost me a fortune. Using my red baubles, I can create a red and white theme, all I need to do is buy a few white decorations. Gold baubles I have plenty of, so I could buy a few eye-catching gold decorations and create a Golden theme, just green is also a good idea! You see, even if the colour scheme would be different and you need to buy a few more items, you don’t need to start from scratch.

Gold and white, all gold, red and white…whatever your colour scheme be bold and try something new this year

Why not spruce the whole house?

Should I stick to just the main rooms of the house; the living room, dining room and kitchen? What about the bedrooms? What do you do?

Many decorators advise to stick to the colour schemes that you already have in the room. This saves you taking things down for just Christmas. Shift things around, buy a few cushion covers and this might just do the trick. Just adding a garland or ribbons can add to the Christmas feeling too. Oh, and don’t forget lights!

Finding the right item

My bedroom colours are purple, white and gold. I might find it difficult to find purple items but white is an all time favourite. I could even go for something on a soft pink too. Whatever the colour scheme you have, you don’t have to use the exact colours of the room, anything that mixes well and not clash will look amazing. I know I will be on the look out for purple items and if I’m not mistaken, I think I saw a purple Christmas tree at Qronfla Christmas shop the other day.

Yep, the purple Christmas Tree at Qronfla Christmas shop

I think these Santas would look good in a child’s bedroom

A simple all year round item like a candle holder can become a decoration with a change of candle or a garland around it.

Decorating according to your colour scheme in your bedrooms is recommended and with just a few items you can create that Christmas spirit.

Inspiration from Qronfla’s Designers

Qronfla Christmas Shop is the place for inspiration! These are the colour schemes that are trending a lot this Christmas season:

1.Turquoise with a touch of white – this is a favourite with the fans of the film Frozen. Very trendy with girls that don’t like pink even though pink can be included too!

2. Pink with a touch of gold or silver, pinks can differ from baby to fuchsia – this might not be a favourite of the traditional house. You do need to be daring yet, if you get it right you would have definitely created a very elegant and sophisticated look.

As I mentioned in my previous post, one can start decorating in two ways: with a religious feeling thanks to the Nativity or a more joyous atmosphere thanks to the Christmas tree. In Malta, there are many traditions that go around the Nativity scene as you can find out here. On the other hand, the Christmas tree is quite a modern feature yet, it’s roots stretch far…

A little history

Have you ever heard the song; Oh! Christmas Tree!? Did you know that this song was a German folk song that had nothing to do with Christmas? The Christmas tree as we know it has a long history; it can go back to the ancient Egyptians yet, I am not here to give a history lesson. Still, it is interesting to know that it was the Germans that started decorating fir trees.

Many things have changed in the way the Christmas tree is decorated. We no longer use candles to light it up as this is a massive fire hazard. Today, Christmas trees are a centrepiece to the house at Christmas time.

In the 16th century German Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Some built Christmas pyramids of wood and decorated them with evergreens and candles. Legend has it, that Martin Luther, on heading home saw a scene of the stars twinkling among fir trees. He then went home and decorated a fir tree with candles, inside his house, to depict the same scene.

In the 1840s and 1850s Queen Victoria and Prince Albert popularised a new way of celebrating Christmas. This engraving from 1840 shows the two monarchs surrounded by children and gifts around a Christmas tree. Credit: Wikimedia Commons.

This tradition was given an even bigger boost when in 1846, Queen Victoria and her German Prince, Albert, were sketched in the Illustrated London News standing with their children around a Christmas tree. Being that queen Victoria was very popular with her subjects, and what was done at court immediately became fashionable, the Christmas tree was born.

No need to stick to the traditional colours of red, green and gold. Ask us for tips on how to decorate your Christmas tree.

Enough history

The Christmas tree was once thought to be a pagan tradition. Now, due to the fact that a fir tree is a triangular shape, Christians have used the Christmas tree to symbolise the Holy Trinity and from there came the idea that the tree should be a symbol of Christ and new life.

Trees are decorated to create a warm and enjoyable sight but, for safety reasons, today the use of candles is not recommended to light it up. Instead, LED lights flickering in all sort of timings create a magical atmosphere. Some people like them colourful while others stick to white. Whatever your opinion, lights are a must on your Christmas Tree.

Qronfla offer decorating services, get in touch with us to find out more

Another modern feature of the Christmas tree is that many people opt for artificial trees. In Malta fir trees do not grow in abundance due to our hot summers but, even where it is abundant people feel that not only is having an artificial tree beneficial to the planet but, it is also economical to use the same tree year after year.

Decorating your tree creates the theme to the rest of your house

A Christmas without a Christmas tree would seem bare. It not only fills the house during the day but it lights up the night. The actual ornaments on the tree can also be meaningful.

Where to put your Christmas Tree

Some people place their tree to show it off to passers-by; in a balcony door way or in the hall and leave the windows open for all to see. Others, like to keep it in a central part of the house as a centre piece to create a festive feeling. Wherever it goes the tree is what creates the theme of the whole house or at least room. The way the tree is decorated starts the ripple effect to the rest of the house: traditional green with red and gold baubles or soft white and silver decorations to have a more crisp and minimalist feeling.

Modern decorations can include large ornaments. Placing these in the right place takes skill, our designers can help you create a sensational Christmas tree.

As I had wrote in the previous blog, there are two ways to start decorating your home for Christmas; setting up your baby Jesus or setting up your Christmas Tree. Some say that the religious meaning to Christmas is dying out, others say that it is mostly celebrated by the elder generation. The fact that Christmas is all about The Nativity and The Nativity is all about Jesus, then, why not give this infant His importance?

What is The Nativity?

The nativity is the story about the birth of baby Jesus; where he was born in a manger away from a warm bed. He was surrounded by animals and not among friends and family. Strangers came bearing gifts; some with sheep and others with precious, expensive items like gold. Therefore, the members of the Nativity include: the Holy Family, a shepherd or two, three wise men, some animals including sheep, a cow and a donkey and finally an angel. To have them all placed together, we call it, a Christmas Crib. This is a big tradition in Malta!

In Malta you can find antique statues of Baby Jesus that go back 350 years, some are on a display in a museum in B’Kara. In Malta at this time of year you will encounter hand made signs with the word “PRESEPJU” or “CRIB” . Here, you will come across artists of all types that have dedicated a lot of their time to creating a unique piece of art with small or large figurines depicting the story of the Nativity. Hence, I still think that the religious meaning of Christmas is very alive in Malta.

Baby Jesus Statues

Along with the Christmas Crib, Malta has another tradition which is nearly 100 years old. San Gorg Preca, a Maltese saint, wanted to celebrate Christmas day with children and adults alike. In 1921, this priest created a day when the children of the town of Hamrun went out as a procession with the statue of the baby Jesus in the streets of the town. It symbolised that humans come from Jesus and Jesus is with us everywhere. Today, on Christmas Eve, this procession is done in some 66 local parishes, all over Malta and Gozo. May be this year there won’t be this procession due to safety measures but, Baby Jesus is still an important part of our Christmas traditions.

Start decorating this year with the true meaning of Christmas. Once you have bought a nativity set or baby Jesus, take it home and decide where it should be placed. May be your religious corner could be on a mantelpiece or close to the hub of the house, in the kitchen. May be, you would like to create a warm welcoming corner to your house and place your Nativity set near the main door. Remember to decorate it with lights, candles and may be a lovely garland to match your set. All these decorations can be found at Qronfla Christmas shop and we are open everyday till Christmas! Something you will see around the crib or Baby Jesus is ‘Gulbiena’, but I’ll talk about this in another blog.

It feels like summer was with us just yesterday, we still have hot days at times. Normally I would be planning next holidays and it’s human nature to look forward to the next best thing. As a nation we are not big fans of halloween and autumn seems to give Malta a miss as we still go round in t.shirts at times. So, how can we bring on the Christmas Cheer?!

Some of 2020’s Christmas Decorations at The Christmas Shop

Christmas is a time to celebrate and although things are a bit different due to circumstances we all are too familiar with, we still look forward to Christmas. We, might not feel safe enough to travel as much as we used to but, no one will stop us from celebrating this festive season! We must bring positivity and share the Christmas Cheer.

How can one make this Christmas special?

Well, for starters the decorations are a must! But, let’s not just put them up and that’s it, let’s make it a family activity. Make your own decorations, make it a meaningful process. This way, you will remember Christmas for the family activities and not just Christmas day.

Where to start?

You can take it in two different ways:

Christmas is about the birth of Christ (it even has His name in it) so start by taking out your Baby Jesus or Nativity set. Qronfla have many different types for all budgets. Did you know that there are many different traditions around the baby Jesus?

Put up the Christmas tree as a family. Get the tech guru in the family to take care of the lights, then let the children place a few baubles wherever they please (you can fix them up later). You can take care of the ribbons and bows, they cover a lot of mistakes. Finally the star or angel on the top should be a prize for the youngest! Did you know that the Germans were the first to decorate the tree?

Create your Christmas Spirit – make it meaningful!
